Accidents, Recovery, and Getting Back on the Horse

Doug here. It has been one hell of a year so far. It seems like I've spent more time in hospitals this year than in the last twenty combined. Some of that was for family members, and thankfully everyone is doing well. Some of it, though, has also been for myself. I had a mountain bike wreck that resulted in shoulder surgery. We were in a car accident that totaled our car, and we are still dealing with the repercussions of that. Fortunately, it wasn't our fault, but it's been a stressful time for sure. That's been going on while my shoulder is still on the mend, but I have healed enough to play guitar again, so shows will start being added asap. Looking forward to playing as much as possible for the rest of the year, especially since I won't be coaching football again this fall. Trail of the Lonesome's new songs are still coming along, but all the drama this year has put us behind schedule as far as recording and playing live are concerned. I've heard it said many times that if one falls off a horse the most important thing for them to do is get back on that horse and ride. Here's to the upcoming ride!

See What Had Happened Was...

Wow, it's been entirely too long. Hope everyone is doing well. We have been calling Brevard, NC home since August, and it's been great but super busy. Nevertheless, we have been writing some new songs, and we are currently recording some home demos with our eyes on studios to get a new full length done by the end of the year. We are going to be hitting stages again very soon to kick the tires on the new tunes. We're very excited to perform again for our friends old and new, so keep an eye out on here and our social media as we start adding dates to the calendar. Stay well everyone and we will see you soon!

Trail of the Lonesome is Relocating!

Hey guys, Doug here. I am very excited to let everyone know that we are in the process of relocating to the mountains of Western North Carolina. Knoxville has been pretty good to us, but we've missed the mountains, and every visit we've made to NC has been pulling and encouraging us to make a move.

Being an Air Force brat myself, it's always a little complicated when someone asks where I'm from or where we are from. The short version is always and will always be that we are from Southwest Virginia. That's home. For the foreseeable future, though, we will be making our home in Brevard, NC, and we couldn't be more excited to get back to the mountains and continue making music.

This means we won't be playing a ton of shows this summer or fall, but it will give us more time to write and practice, so hopefully we'll have some new recordings before the end of 2016. We will keep everyone up to date!

Thanks Again to Brevard and Let's Make Some New Songs.

We had a great time as we always do last weekend in Brevard, NC at Oskar Blues. Aaron and the crew there always treat us so well, and the folks are always incredibly friendly. We are going to be spending the winter months writing and recording new songs. Thanks to everyone who's made it out to a show so far in 2015. We may play a few more this year, so be sure to check back in.

Fall is here...

Sitting around campfires, cooking on the grill, enjoying time outdoors with the ones you love. Juxtapose that with grinding oneself away indoors at work questioning who you are, where you are, and what you are seeking. Something about this time of year brings up a fire inside that makes me want to keep moving and creating. We are working on some new tunes that reflect these things and more. I can't wait to get out and let you guys here them!
